Dear Woodard Girls' parents, girls and friends,

Welcome to the Woodard Girls’ blog site! We are a very busy house with the girls involving themselves fully in so many different activities that it is sometimes hard to keep track! The aim of this site is to keep you all up to date with their activities and achievements. I aim to update the blog every Monday afternoon, so please do come back and visit it on a regular basis.

START OF A NEW ACADEMIC YEAR

The first week in Woodard, although quite intense, has been very fun and exciting. Having been on holiday for 2 months it was somewhat hard to get back to work, but the amazing experience of a new house overshadowed the struggles. I’m sure that everyone would agree that Godwin Hall is an incredible boarding facility that has everything an Upper 6thstudent would want in their final year of school and we’re extremely fortunate to have it! Also, Woodard Girls are very lucky to have Miss Gall as our Housemistress and Gesa as our Deputy Housemistress. They are very supportive and make us feel at home.

Woodard makes you feel much more grown up and mature. The fact that there are no bed times is appealing to many boarders, as you automatically get a bit more freedom and have to learn how to manage time yourself. Surprisingly enough, everyone gets so tired that they don’t go to bed late. After all, U6th is a very tough academic year!

It is also lovely to have the whole year group under one roof; this gives you an opportunity to speak to people you don’t know particularly well, or someone you’ve never spoken to and become friends with them. For example, on Friday after evening school we had our first official ‘bonding session’ when we played table tennis with the boys. The atmosphere in the house was amazing – everyone was playing pool, Pictionary or table tennis; loud music was accompanied by everyone’s singing and laughter –we had a lot of fun! The house is already looking forward to the laser quest event next Sunday.

Having now settled into the life of Woodard, I am sure that Upper 6th will be the best year at Ardingly (despite the endless amount of work).
