Dear Woodard Girls' parents, girls and friends,

Welcome to the Woodard Girls’ blog site! We are a very busy house with the girls involving themselves fully in so many different activities that it is sometimes hard to keep track! The aim of this site is to keep you all up to date with their activities and achievements. I aim to update the blog every Monday afternoon, so please do come back and visit it on a regular basis.

Cookery class

Tonight, one of our school chefs came in to teach some of the girls how to make cheap, tasty, healthy meals at university. They learnt how to make a basic bolognase sauce, different ways to use it and serve it as well as making a lovely garlic ciabatta. Mark also showed the girls how to use every part of a chicken - they were very brave dislocating all the bones...!! Thank you so much Mark for coming to help - the girls had a feast!!

Woodard House Music

It's been a busy week! Woodard House Music took place on Tuesday and it was great to welcome parents along to the event. As a whole house, we came together to watch a variety of performances ranging from guitar solos, duets, a recorder solo and there was a nice mix of fun and serious. We'll done to all who took part and helped with the event (esp. Mr Lovat and Mr Kenworthy).

Rugby wars!

On Monday 28th Sept, Mr Lovat organised a College wide rugby inspired event (games were rather random, like who can rugby tackle a shark in the most photogenic way). It was the whole charity day and lots of money was raised for the College's nominated charities. Here are some pictures of our girls getting involved in the fun. We came 3rd in the girls' category..!

Dinner with Miss. Gall

On Thursday evening, Miss Gall randomly chose 8 girls to come in to her house for a lovely home made meal. It was a really lovely time getting to know each other more, mixing day girls and boarders and having a home made meal around a table. Everyone had a great time :)

Laser Quest and BBQ

On Sunday (13th September), the boys and girls joined forces for their first social of the year. The year group was divided into 4 teams, with each team taking part in 2 laser quest games, a team-building activity and a selection of children's games (space hoppers, egg and spoons and sacs were all present)! We were so lucky to have no rain (it had been forecast for heavy showers) and everyone enjoyed the BBQ after all that running around!

Friday Nights in Godwin

Every Friday evening, the U6th students are welcome to attend Bar Night. During the course of the evening, they are allowed a maximum of 2 drinks and are served by staff. There are also lots of nibbles scattered around the room. It's always a fun and relaxed evening, and a great way for the boys and girls to mix and socialise at the end of a busy and tiring week.

A typical weekday morning

We thought it would be a good idea to post some pictures of a typical 8.25 am call over on the blog. That way, parents can get an idea of how we do things here at Woodard Girls! I must say, not everyone is wide awake at that time of the day....
